Polina Moreira is the bluesy soul of the album. Three of her compositions open the collection, setting a deep, melancholic mood. Polina is a singer and songwriter with Russian-Portuguese roots, making her the perfect conduit between the two cultures.
Her voice — low, velvety, with a slight hoarseness — perfectly conveys the melancholy of October. Her blues echoes traditional fado, but reinterpreted through the prism of American blues tradition. Polina uses a Portuguese guitar in contemporary arrangements, creating a unique sound.
